Take Action
And Get Involved

Here’s How You Can Help fight for change of
PNG ISD's harmful, racist mascot!

We need to be LOUD!

We need to be CONSISTENT!

We need to let them know WE WILL FORCE CHANGE!

As Native Peoples, we have endured so much racism, attempted colonization, and discrimination in this state that has always been, OUR HOME!

We will not allow our children to endure this type of harmful action that PNG ISD is subjectifying them to by using a mascot mocking our Peoples, "the Indians." Not only do they make a mascot out of us, but they mock our tribal traditions and sacred practices with things such as naming their football field the reservation, having a child wear a mock headdress to present a mascot, and teaching their students to chant "Scalp 'em, Indians" at school event.

Actions will range from sending emails, snail mail, and making phone calls- to being part of our Protests on the grounds at PNG ISD!

*If you cannot participate, please share our social media posts and website to help spread awareness!

Below is a list of email addresses for all Board of Trustees of PNG ISD, as well as the phone number for State of Texas Representative Dr. Mary Gonzalez and the email address for her adviser, who we wish to plead for help with this issue and creating legislation against these hateful, harmful, racists acts!

I stand with Native Peoples in demanding PNG ISD change their mascot. Native People within your community have asked for this mascot to be changed, and Sovereign Tribal Nations from around the country have asked for this mascot to be changed. Your ISD has not listened and continues to mock tribal traditions and sacred practices. A petition was sent out by students in 2020. This petition gathered more than 147,000+ signatures. A printout of the document was delivered to the school in 2021. The faculty have entirely disregarded it. A letter was sent by Principal Chief Chuck Hoskins Jr. of the Cherokee Nation asking the school to stop what they are doing.
